Treatment

Supporting you with life's challenges...

ADHD

ADHD (includes ADD) can cause issues with memory, time management, emotional regulation, planning, foresight, learning from consequences, and organisation. People with ADHD feel things more deeply and have an increased sense of justice.

Therapy can help with acceptance and understanding, practical skill training and building self-confidence. I can help you understand yourself better, communicate to others, increase your self-esteem, reduce guilt and shame, and help with practical skills and strategies to make your life easier.

Anxiety

If anxious thoughts or feelings of worry are causing you problems, there are many ways of helping you to feel calmer and more focused again.

I have years of experience dealing with clients suffering with anxiety and related conditions. I can offer practical help to overcome anxious thoughts, and offer support with underlying issues.

Bereavement

If you have experienced a bereavement, recent or not, you may be feeling a mixture of different emotions and talking them through can really help. It may feel like no one understands, or perhaps you don’t want to burden your family or friends.

Counselling can help you sort out your thoughts and find a path through your sadness.

Chronic Illness

When you have a chronic illness you may feel that no one understands. You may feel angry, sad, alone or even hopeless.

Coping with symptoms is hard and you may find it helps to talk through your feelings and your fears with someone who will listen with empathy and kindness.

I have a chronic illness (EDS) and you may find that it’s helpful to you to know that. It is your experience that I am here to listen to however, and your issues that I am here to try to help you with.

Depression

Approximately 1 in 5 people experience depression at some point in their lives, but since 2020 numbers have risen sharply. It can be totally debilitating, but ignoring symptoms will not solve the problem.

There is a way forward however, talking about your thoughts and feelings. Counselling can offer insight and new perspectives, and uncover underlying issues responsible for your present state of mind.

LGBTQ+ / Identity

Questioning your sexuality or gender can be daunting. Add to that, the fear of rejection and prejudice and the world can seem a cold anad bewildering place.

You are fully accepted here: not questioned or judged, free to be your true self. Your sexuality is not a problem for me and you can speak in complete confidence.

I understand the emotions and questions non-binary and transgender people may have, and whatever your situation or presentation you can talk in safety and security.

Neurodiversity

Neurodivergent conditions including ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia affect around 15-20% of the population of the UK. Maybe you have been told you have a neurodivergence, or perhaps you are wondering about it?

Understanding and acceptance are the keys to a happier and less stressful life, but it can sometimes be difficult for those around us to do this which can cause problems.

I can help you to understand yourself, freeing yourself of any shame or sadness, and guide you to help those around you understand and accept you too.

Relationships

We all have relationships of some kind: with our friends or families, a partner or a child. Sometimes these relationships can be strained or difficult, or you may have a broken relationship or a long term relationship problem.

Talking about your own feelings surrounding these relationships or breakups can really help you to sort out your thoughts and emotions, and provide healing and repair.

Talk to me about the issues you can’t talk about anywhere else.

Trauma

Trauma is any experience that has a lasting impact on a person or their psyche.

Healing from it involves finding a place of safety, feeling positive experiences and releasing the traumatic ones.

It can feel like an overwhelming prospect, but I will support you and sit with you on your journey through it, to help you be free from the symptoms of trauma affecting your life.
